People will draw different conclusions from this one. To me, it looks like further evidence that the criminal justice system is infected with black-and-white thinking and a lack of compassion towards criminals. Yes, I do realise that on its own it establishes jack-squat, but it seems to fit into broader patterns, such as the way we tolerate rape in our prisons.
