Re: Leica DG 45 Macro its features and useability. Macro shooters' advice please.

plevyadophy wrote: > OK that kinda makes sense. So then are you saying that this issue affects the Leica DG 45 Macro too? The reason I ask is that I don't recall the issue ever being raised in the review of the lens here on DPReview.. It becomes significant only in the macro range

Macro? A macro lens achieves a very close focus essentially the same way as adding an extension tube behind a lens

Re: 135L 100L macro and Sigma 150 macro

I just ordered a new 100mm L but do not really expect it to match my 135mm L. There are lots of fairly accurate tests that already show the difference particularly at the edges which do not match the original 100mm non-IS

Re: 100mm IS macro vs 180mm macro

I love is ability to walk around and point at something so close up to see it in macro and then to look up and have a great sharp low aperture lens.. Two: When getting really close to objects it may seem to be enough light for a 1/160 shutter but it surprising how quickly macro falls into needed high F's and longer shutters

Re: Is a Macro Lens only good for Macro shots.

> So I have been considering Macro lenses for my 7D. But I don't take macro shots often enough to justify having a lens just for that
Re: Is a Macro Lens only good for Macro shots.

The main lens on my camera 90% of the time is a macro lens.. I have the 24-70 F/2.8 L macro lens
Re: Is a Macro Lens only good for Macro shots.

When the Canon 60 macro came out there was an article in one of the photo magazines that said that it was the perfect portrait lens on a cropped camera

Re: Tamron 180mm macro vs 28-300mm VC macro

Thank you for enlightening!
Re: Tamron 180mm macro vs 28-300mm VC macro

normally a "ZOOM" lens Macro is not sharp at the far end....the "macro" feature is not real 1:1 its normally more than 1:2...

Re: Macro ring light with 45mm macro suggestions?

see http://www.ayton.id.au/wp02/?p=2672 if you want TTL flash then the Olympus Ring Flash but you will have to hand hold it around the lens as there is no adapter for it

Re: Zeiss "macro" is really not a macro

I'm not an optical expert but given that the 100/2.8 macro (non-L) is already larger and more expensive than the 100/2 I'm guessing it's extremely difficult (i.e.. - costly large and heavy) to make a 100/2 macro much less to have it as sharp as the 100/2.8 (L) macro or 135/2 wide open at all focusing distances

Re: Zeiss "macro" is really not a macro

Then it's not a real macro lens just as the "macro" designated zooms are not real macro lenses
