I could relax as they told me what I said in my OP.. Apparently they (the wasps) make these wonderful structures out of paper and stuff (well they had an abundant choice of material in the attic!).. I am still astonished that we didn't have major problems with this though we found many dead/dying wasps in one bedroom a couple of months ago but didn't find the source

I think the most fantastic thing is that there is no 'foreman' (or forewoman in the case of wasps) to oversee the general structure.. Each individual wasps are just using simple rules to determine what to add and how to the local bit of nest they're working on.. Each wasp adds its mouthful of paper as a narrow extension to teh edge of the growing plaque.. Because different wasps have collected the wood they have chewed into paper in different places it's a different colour: hence the 'growth rings'

This is fine for visible paper nests under the eaves of your home but a waste of time for nests in the ground or in voids of a structure.. •If workers are at rest in the ground you know where they are and you know that they are not active nor in defense mode

I was only too aware of the possibility of being tricked into leaving my guard down and being left helpless as they rode off with the prize (which was what again?).. They make really tiny batches (it's a small counter sized donut machine) and they're much good yum.. There were hundreds at the festival and then today it was even in the paper. Apparently they can chew through drywall so nests on the soffits of homes might lead to wasps inside come spring! Those cider donuts sound awesome! I think we'll make caramel apples tomorrow if I can get roomie to lend me 8oz of milk.. They are wasps. Aggressive as all hell and mean

They opened with very little effort.. Then I noticed multiple other locks on the thing most of them painted to the point where they would not likely function.. One looks like it is supposed to go into a hole in the floor (that does not exist but may have before the new pressed board/paper wood looking floors were put in.) I like the french style doors and I am sure if they put in new doors they would do the cheap sliding ones.. The lack of natural light in the morning makes the wasps late risers

They were babies to us even into adulthood.. We were brought up knowing that they feel things even more than humans can because they don't understand and yes they have personalities such as touch one dogs ears the wrong way and be prepared to get nipped! No sympathy if kid goes crying because they were taught from birth what is ok.. Oh I put spiders and tree-bugs out all the time only things Ill ever try to kill (and only by spraying) is wasps & yellow jackets because I am very scared and alergic.. also mosquitoes roaches and other things like ticks which can sting and hurt! Almost everything else gets caught (in a glass with paper over it) and put outside

As for all of you people pointing your fingers saying we re racist WASPs please look up the definition of ILLEGAL.. My parents both spoke fluent German ...as their SECOND language.(I wish they would have taught me German) The way I see it is that the U.S.A.. if all proper paper work is submitted and finally approved.. I do not know the full procedure on how they obtained these visas but I do know that they were university students from the Ukraine
