post43820208] I heard from ABC radio today that Qantas plans to increase flights on the Townsville-Mackay and Townsville-Cairns routes it did not specify what aircraft or what days.. “Mackay Airport is an important North Queensland hub for the mining industry business and tourism sectors as well as for the general travel needs of our regional population.” The competition between Qantas which already services that route and REX is expected to lower prices and improve travel.. Rex managing director Jim Davis said it was gratifying to see Rex taking to the skies of Northern Queensland and bringing the benefits of lower fares and increased flight frequency to the people of Townsville and Mackay
