I can achieve the same result skipping step 2 and manually setting a 192.168.0.x address in Ubuntu via Network Manager profile).. However I still have a problem: even if the connection is established I cannot ping the 192.168.0.1 address and the Ubunbtu laptop can't use the shared internet connection.. Here is the syslog printed during the connection (with dhcp negotiation): Code: Jan 18 22:30:23 giuseppe-laptop NetworkManager: <info> Activation (wlan0) starting connection 'Auto SkyNet' Jan 18 22:30:23 giuseppe-laptop NetworkManager: <info> (wlan0): device state change: 3 -> 4 (reason 0) Jan 18 22:30:23 giuseppe-laptop NetworkManager: <info

locked means the firmware only works on their service (unless you reflash) the router username and password aren't a secret you can't do much without them

ok firstly confirm you have a 'conventional' headset with headphone type plugs for the mic and earphones (as opposed to USB -avoid those) first place to look is control panel > sound and audio device properties (win XP but vista/7 will have something
