The best meal we had was either the lobster tail (and it was slightly overcooked) or the jerk pork.. Only had a thin film of actual cake with cool to warm batter underneath unlike earlier versions where cake was actually baked around the sides with a warm gooey center.. Cruise Journal: Friday October 9 Travel to Port Canaveral We flew AirTran from DFW to MCO arriving at Orlando at 11am.. (I joined the Avis Preferred program before making my reservations at the suggestion of others on the Cruise Critic board.. After walking around City Walk a bit we grabbed a Starbucks and then started the drive out to Port Canaveral

We mentioned to him that Giuseppe made us and our family this item during the seven day cruise before the start of the world cruise and we thought his was quite good and compared evenly to what our head waiter in 2008 (Tall Peter) made for us.. Many people have moved to Cape Town over the years from a variety of places around the world.. It is probably one of the most charming areas to walk around of any area near a cruise ship terminal around the world with very few exceptions

Shanks) and a pasta special for the evening.. We each had a nice fruit plate for dinner and others had some of the infamous desserts on the menu such as the Prego sampler which includes tastes from three dessert; orange panna cotta tiramisu and a flourless chocolate cake.. In addition to being entertained by one of the bands the World Cruise Choir performed.. The choir performs on each of the World Cruises and is comprised of both full World Cruise passenger’s and other passengers who are on one or more legs of the World Cruise.. We will have a nice number of passengers joining us and expect that we will have around 625-650 passengers on the next leg of the cruise which is about 200 more passengers than we now have.. Around the time that I returned to the room Anne Marie began her morning workout on the Treadmill

This is Philip Wojciechowski’s first time performing on board a Crystal ship and all we can say is that with due respect to the other artists we have seen appear over the years that this might have been the best pianist we have ever seen perform on any ship we have been on.. He gave the performance of a lifetime and this is one of the items that differentiate Crystal from all other cruise lines we have sailed with.. They have an unbelievable enrichment and entertainment program to begin with and on the World Cruise it is taken up another notch as many times new talent is brought onto each leg of the World Cruise.. Philip is a critically acclaimed concert pianist who has won many awards from around the world.. He has played at many venues around the world including the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and the Opera House in Monte Carlo.. Captain Glenn also noted that we were traveling at 19.5 knots per hour and that he wanted to increase the speed

The rain stopped so we went to Chakanaab.. We bought the package that was $19 each and included admission a beverage and a T Shirt.. We stopped first in the pool and swam around for a bit.. We went down one into the water and swam around for a bit.. As the week is going on I am finding that I like the cruise director more and more.. We were sitting with a nice couple from Canada who were on their first cruise. We had a nice time at lunch with them

This is the first review I have written so if I forget anything let me know.. Pre-Embarkation: We flew down to Long Beach Airport on Friday afternoon prior to cruise departure on Saturday.. We had reserved Prime Time shuttle service from Long Beach Airport to the Doubletree Inn San Pedro and would NOT recommend this service..Supermarket to buy our wine for the cruise. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The food was very good service was slow and the prices were on the high side.. We actually left about 9:45 AM in the event and arrived at the pier at around 10:00 AM..be seen again until they appeared in our stateroom around 2:00 PM

post8983933] Do You Hit a Rogue Wave or Does a Rogue Wave Hit You? The question is rhetorical as either way you and the wave have collided.. We were scheduled to travel around the horn between about 6 and 8 am.. We were also warned to expect 30 foot seas - We awoke and dressed around 6:30 - the seas were rough but not too bad yet - and went up to the Lido.. As good cruise passengers however it was time to eat

Now for my question(s): My wife and I are considering a B2B on the Destiny during March 2010 and are concerned about the "turn around" day.. Will you please describe how your luggage gets from your cabin used on the first of the two cruises to the cabin that you will use for the second cruise? (I assume/hope that the luggage is not required to be taken off the ship and then back on again.) Does a Carnival staff person assist you with the process of getting off the.. The 'turn around' day is very simple and perhaps the most interesting day of all.. You receive a letter during the first cruise listing a time and location to meet to be escorted off to ICE for US immigration procedures and immediately after you are escorted back on the ship with new S&S cards

Externally the ship was of a completely new design.. The bridge was placed far back being closer to midship that the bow.. Throughout the 1960s the competition from jet passenger aircraft increased on the Australian run and as a result the around-the-year service to Australia became no longer financially viable.. Although her design was otherwise well suited for cruising the ship did not have toilet facilities in all cabins which made her an unpopular cruise ship and after just five months of cruising Shaw Savill decided to lay up the ship in November of the same year.. Painted in cruise-like whites with an attractive blue/white funnel Calypso entered service for Ulysses Lines in March 1975 initially cruising around the Mediterranean with Piraeus as the starting point.. Thomson withdrew from the cruise business in 1976 and Calypso returned to Ulysses Lines who used her for cruising around the Mediterranean as well as a season for cruising around South America in 1978-1979 and seven-night cruises from Miami to the Caribbean from 1979 onwards

Three hundred guests gathered to watch the launch with another estimated 11 000 onlookers cramming in and around the shipyard to watch.. After just three days alongside in Southampton Canberra had been transformed from a luxury cruise ship into a battle-ready troopship well almost.. When she sailed at 2000 hours on Friday 9 April a group of Vosper Thornycroft workers went with her to finish the forward flight deck.. Canberra had done her job and landed around 2 000 troops without a casualty and without getting hit herself

In 1995 during her twentieth world cruise she passed her four millionth mile mark having sailed the equivalent of 185 times around the planet.. route (which was taken over by the Queen Mary 2 in 2004) QE2 still undertook an annual world cruise and regular trips around the Mediterranean

And we start with the only humorous part of this event and it really is true because I got a call from the Cruise Director Jen around 6:10pm and when she called .guess what yep I was in my cabin in my underpants.. Anyway Jen told me that I should come to the bridge as we were experiencing problems. Luckily my cabin is on deck 8 so I had a short walk and as soon as I arrived I could see what the problem was.. In moments like this there is no such thing as too many announcements and the one voice they want to hear from is the cruise director it s a voice the guests recognize and hopefully trust

Friday February 5 2010 Hilo Vince We woke up this morning as we were coming into the Port at Hilo. The only thing we have planned for today in port is to check out some of the fabric shops so Lin can get Hawaiian fabric for her next quilt.. After the incredible Chef s Table last night we puttered around our suite until we thought it was okay to head into the fabric stores.. At this point in the cruise the lettuce is still crisp and the very fragile raspberries look and taste like they were just picked.. It is a National Tropical Botanical Garden that does research and draws botanists from around the world to study the different species

We paid $45 each for the Allerton Gardens tour and the cab cost us just under $50 each way.. This one deserves 4 Stars and continues the high ratings for all of the desserts we have had on this cruise. After dinner we went up to deck 15 and watched Star Trek on MUTS.. Then the deck stewards come around and offer you popcorn.. When you finish the popcorn they come around and offer you cookies and milk

It will be hard to eat anything coming from the galley for the rest of the cruise.. Oh the memories .. We arrived to the appointed meeting place and Angelo Balbiani the Maitre d Hotel escorted us a separate area to don our lab coats.. We were then gathered around one side of the table and the ship s photographer snapped a photo of all including the chef s waiters Angelo and Chef.. We thought we were done ..but no One of the head waiters Giuseppe gathered the wait staff of the dining room around our table

PRE-CRUISE (Seattle & Vancouver)

I was surprised with how many people were there for the tour but it was still easy to get a good look at everything.. From there was a visit to Columbia Tower (twice the height of the Space Needle and a fraction of the cost) where I took some photos before heading to the Central Library for its architectural wonder and free internet.. I hopped a quick bus from the library to the Seattle Center where I walked around for some photo ops of the Space Needle and International Fountain.. Train I booked the Amtrak Cascades train from Seattle to Vancouver a 4-hour journey that everyone on Cruise Critic has described as particularly scenic.. I got to the station around 7:00. Luckily this was early enough to score a window seat on the left-hand side of the train..Vancouver and boarding the cruise ship in order to see a little more of Vancouver

The T-Pool was nice but got crowded as the cruise went on and more people realized how wonderful it was.. I made it through the first course before deciding I also wouldn t be eating dinner that night! From my short impression I thought the menu had a lot of great choices and the service was adequate but not comparable to the MDR.. Olympic Restaurant I never thought I would eat at the Olympic but I found myself with two opportunities to eat there during this cruise. Both meals were incredible with great food superior service and great company

The Ports (Alaska)

By: bqkali
Pre-cruise in Seattle and Vancouver was sunny & 70 so that was a great way to start the trip! Ports The best part about a 10-day Alaska cruise (rather than a 7-day) is that instead of four ports you get six! Since I travel for the ports and the itinerary this was a huge bonus for me.. Skagway (7am-8:30pm) I was a little nervous about Skagway because I had booked a tour with Dyea Dave who has mixed reviews here on Cruise Critic.. I figured it would be okay while I would love to head to Emerald Lake there were plenty of hiking trail right around town that could easily fill the day and left me just as satisfied.. Around 5:00 Dave pointed me in the direction of Yakutania Point for a short hike (more like a walk especially after the REAL hike in Juneau)

Here is a review of our 7 night cruise on the Valor to Grand Cayman Roatan Belize and Cozumel that we really enjoyed! We flew into Miami the day before and rented a car from Thrifty for the day.. Day 1 The next morning we dropped the car off at Thrifty and got the shuttle to the port.. It started to fill up pretty quickly and we went to walk around the ship.. After walking around the ship it was nearly 1:30 so we went to see if the cabins were open.. We never formally met him our entire cruise. He never spoke to us even in passing only our room steward did as well as the others for other cabins

Our Christmas Cruise on the Carnival Victory

The day before our departure day the US was hit with a big snow storm and unfortunately our flight to Philadelphia was cancelled so we were transferred to another flight through Charlotte North Carolina.. Like headless chickens we ran around looking for a proper desk and luckily we managed to check in within minutes of boarding time.. The ship was massive like the other cruise ships decorated with Atlantis theme with mermaids and Poseidon covering the walls.. We lounged around the small room for a while meeting our friendly steward Keno from Trinidad and inquired about the three beds until he explained that he would make a pull out bed.. We spent a good 20 minutes stuffed on the deck with thousands of other vacationers listening to our cruise director Karl with a K until given the sign to leave

Continued Puerto Rico Old San Juan Sadly this was the day we would leave the cruise. We grabbed our last breakfast from the dining room and realized that there wasn’t going to be anymore food served to us after this meal.. We checked into the nice hotel / casino and were happily greeted with a spacious room in contrast to the broom closet we called home on the cruise. Anxious not to waste time Mom forced us to get back in the car quickly and soon we were driving to Guavate for a roast pork lunch a specialty of Puerto Rico.. The trail was not too hard (about 45 minutes each way)and satisfying however there were too many tourists around making it uncomfortable

The Yanks seemed.. For up to the 9th day of the cruise there was no power to the sound system on top deck so we had no sailaway parties until then but when we did it was great fun

We take a large thin cotton sarong (which I may have even bought years ago in Adventureland LOL-shop across from the Robinson Family Tree House) and tie it to the handles of our stroller and stretch it across the front canopy.. It is had led to some nice quicky naps as we zoom around the park.. You can't have beverages in there but to the right of the playground as you exit (left as you enter sort of around the corner) there is a large food hall/snack area
