post888724] Families are a pain friends are usually false and homes can be bought and sold.. Talking about wierdness we have Schiphol airport here near Amsterdam.. There are some nice villages that you fly over as you land on or depart from Schiphol. You guess what people complain about airplane noise? Those that have lived there for 10 years or less

post36125133] I can agree from personal experience about Schiphol trains. Airports like Frankfurt and Munich have excellent integrated rail links too.. Each change requires manhandling all the luggage off and on.. I'm strictly a one suitcase plus hand-luggage traveller but someone with a large familyand lots of luggage will really struggle

The France was one of two ships that would (could) transport a vehicle and we planned to bring the camper with us as it had been purchased with US specs from Shipside at Schiphol.. The next morning we arrived at the debarkation site only to informed that the french crew had mutinied and there wasn't going to be a cruise and that they would refund our money on the spot or we could put ourselves in the hands of the company to somehow.. I took the refund and got my family (wife and 2 small children) aboard the next British Airways flight to the US.. And I remember BOAC and BEA at Schiphol. Glad it all worked out! Thanks for contributing

post12683181] The question though is why...does his wife not trust him to spend a night in AMS...?! I imagine he lives near AMS and works near LCY.. That would be quite a practical commute assuming he lives near Schiphol; the time difference in the morning works in his favour and he still gets to see his family every night.. OK it isn't ideal but the person in question gets to see their family every night assuming they manage their working day suitably

The one thing I miss the most about GF beside family is the Parrots Cay.. I used to go there Monday or Tuesday for a $1 burger a few beers and the best wings ever
