1 year old and 3 year old ill for 3 weeks now

We are on day 16 of the current bout of cold/viral bug thing.. The girls are grotty snotty with high temperatures that come and go throughout the day. Started off as a cold 3 weeks ago for both of them then dd2 got a chest infection for a week still full of snot now and has a "wet" cough that is bad in the day and wakes her up every hour (ish) at night

So how old is old? For me as I move through my 40's i'd say that old is measured by how careful you have to be with the things you threw off easily at 19 and I find myself becoming increasingly careful! For e.g.. At age 19 I could drink (and metabolise) up to 12 pints in a six hour drinking (and dancing) session and walk out of the nightclub feeling not much more than merry get laid (if I got lucky) and run to work/home in the morning.. Yesterday I had four pints and 1 rum and have been taking it easy all day and don't have very good recall of events after 10pm

Oh. Sorry....you're all talking about REALLY old....:) Don't mock - there is nothing more certain than that you will also age and be looking at life from the other angle one day and it probably won't look as bad as you feared it might ....

In port I'd be on the go all the time...or would spend the entire day sunning my then-firm bod and snorkeling the nearest reef...drinking huge tropical concoctions....served in half a watermelon or a coconut shell.... I know that some people my age can be old harpies or curmudgeons...but those folks are the minority.. Sometimes it's not a pretty sight....growing old is NOT for sissies.. now how was THAT for perfectly written? G'ma you could be my cruise pal any day.
