Very hard to watch the video with the dueche bag in the background lol. I agree with Fitch closed guard is not where you want to be in MMA.. Now it doesn't mean there's not dudes tapping people out but most everyone is figuring out how to control hips now and negating offensive guard attacks

If you don't train to deal with strikes from the closed or open guard you are going to have problems in MMA or a street fight.. I mean if all you do is train for competition and then decide to enter a Vale-Tudo or MMA fight....don't expect to survive in a closed guard. I don't care what belt your are

Joe Lauzon appears to be in agreement with what Fitch had to say: "Closed guard is dead.. The closed guard revolves around creating angles by moving your hips

If Pride had bought the UFC we'd likely never be saying shit like "close guard is dead"

Nog etc...however if you aren't exceptionally efficient here it may be smart to just develop a very defensive guard. People used to rag on Wand's black belt status but the guy knew that he only used JJ defensively and actually has a very effective guard in that respect

It says US Naval Reserve on the front and there is a band on the inside that when flipped over says US Coast Guard. Any ideas on the dates? Thanks! Amy
