post4129021] If your muscles have less energy then would not the weight lifting be more difficult but isn't the point of lifting to fatigue the muslce so that it builds more muscle.. if you want to build muscular strength you have to lift heavy. you cannot lift heavy if you are tired from a cardio session

Your high weight in a depleted state may be lower than a non-depleted state but I actually think it will be MORE effective.. at the bold part your muscles will get bigger from the method you describe (lifting while in depleted state).. there is a lifting philosophy known as "cumulative fatigue method" that utilizes this type of muscle growth.. the only way to accomplish this is via heavy weight/low reps

12 reps with no matter what weight is NOT heavy lifting but 4 5 6 or 7 reps ARE and if you can pull the 8th rep you'll STILL be gaining strength and muscle.. So it's possible to lift heavy even without hitting failure.. Personally I can bench press 50 kg for 10 reps deadlift 40 kgs for 10 reps and biceps curl 10 kg dbs for 10 reps and that's moderate lifting. If I want to lift heavy I need to add more weight

I was never really getting sore after my workouts and recently I have stepped it up adding exercises and pushing it until I can barely move any weight

I never feel sore after workouts so I know I must be lifting with far too little intensity/or am not lifting with enough vigor or pushing myself hard enough.. Would anyone know how to rectify this? How heavy should I go? To a point where I must use kinda sloppy form or what? Thanks guys (noob here lol) -Marcus

New To Heavy Lifting Any Advice?  

I decided a couple weeks ago that I would really get serious with weight lifting. I started working out a couple of years ago doing simple dumbbell exercises and made a little bit of progress but grew tired of it and eventually stopped.. I've always been a little muscular and gained a little more when I was working out although I've never weighed more than what I currently weigh at around 135 lbs and around 5'6"

Hypothetically if you can only do 200 for 6-8 but 350 for single or double you will get far more results working up to 315 or higher for singles and doubles then backing off 40 pounds or so for triples then hit the 200 for a back-off set.. The minimum amount of reps your body will respond to is more than what you did yesterday

well i meant really in size more than strength but i thought they came hand-in-hand. I just wondered because i was lifting quite light weights [like for example 30kg bench] when really i could probably lift more like 60kg atleast but would probably only manage 2-3 tops

Discuss Heavy Lifting ITT : Inury Prevention  

Could have put this in exercises but it's more miscellaneous. Lifting like Meat head - I fear injury since I've had a couple already ...(shoulder Elbow - no arms for 2months Shoulder) All because I lift like a meat head.. So it's pointless! I'm done lifting at like 95% each week.. Any other opinions on lifting heavy? Or am I just being too cautious? (srs)

For example instead of various pushups I would use barbell bench instead of "heavy pants" I would use bent over rows etc.... For some reason I just have more fun with things when I mess around with them and this was one of those things.. Not to mention I felt I was wasting the use of my Incline/Decline bench and DB's if I did not get more use out of them

lifting heavy no burn  

im at the stage when i lift heavy i can get 6-7 reps i might get some more out with a spotter but i dont get any burn it just feels heavy. Should i cut back weight slightly and go for more reps will this cut muscle mass or do i need a spotter and push heavy to failure

One thing I can think of is change your workout up. Find a different program for a month. Should help you feel it a bit more. I like the burn since it helps keep me motivated

1/9/09 lifting weights.... 135 - 2x10 Did some pulll aparts dislocations and cuban rotations This was all pretty easy I wanted to lift more weight but I need to be more conditioned than last year

5x2 - pretty easy I made a sandbag today I think it will be a great conditioning tool 100 lbs is the current weight I have 50 more sitting outside that I think I will be adding soon
