Re: My expierence and views on playing Britain in '36

This while 2 British crusier fleets (and the old Eagle CV) prowl the coastline.. Unfortunatly there were alot of Italian troops that made it thru the break in the S. Italian front they overran alot of French troops there before XXX Corps could arrive.. some better than others but thats the way it was
Re: My expierence and views on playing Britain in '36

Time to shut this one down. The bugs in the 1.1 are becoming to evident now and making the game unplayable.. I have (thru really well done AI commanders) overthrown the govt in Ethopia that sided with the Italians who then promptly turned upon the Italians (you could hear the hunting horns and yells of "tally ho!" and they started chasing their former allies.. Some subs and several fleets of small crusiers and dds (one breaking thru my blocking force at Gibraltar) but no luck seeing the main Italian battle fleet.. They began pushing down the coast and inland towards Vichy and Paris but all the German armor i saw earlier by my heavy bomber overflights of Germany moving East have come back West and are pounding the US back to Brest.. Remember this Feb or so 1940. NO way could the US do that type of invasion.. just darn sad way to have a game like this until they fix that one BIG bug

Re: Ten Sleeps in Disney World! - An August Trip Report *9/29 Havoc on a Seaside Village

First you decide how much of the money that you earn you will spend and how much you will save. Then you ride the ups and downs of interest and money markets.. It’s a cool way of showing your kids that the money doesn’t grow in the backyard off the trees..d missed them walking thru. He came back five seconds later to get us.. Alex had parked the stroller and George wasn’t mad about it but he said something to be funny and Alex took it the wrong way. Alex was somewhat miffed in his response and tone which then made George mad enough to walk towards the nearest tree with Demetri in the stroller and wait for us there sheltered from the rain.. We dashed thru the diminished rain …

Re: Interesting conversations @ the work place. The only thing that gets me thru the day.

When they try to be funny around people who are not "in the loop " however their humor often falls flat.. If you can find the humor in physics and Paris Hilton for example you're well on your way.. In a way being funny is simply showing that you are intelligent enough and know enough about something (hopefully a great many things) to find the humorous nuances that others miss

Re: Paris

post2269360] I took my GF to Paris last November for her birthday and we both loved it we only went for a few days. The metro system is excellent can get you to and from anywhere in Paris not much waiting and not full of creepy people on a night time! We bought a 3 day pass for the metro as soon as we got there and would say it was well worth it it only took us a few minutes.. The Eiffel Tower is amazing at night flashing lights all over it! We went thru the day as well and if you want to get the lift up it then expect a wait but we were happy to walk up it (think you get half way) and there was no queue a football game was on that night in Paris as well and around the eiffel tower was ram packed

Re: Plane vs Train London - Paris

post21210596] Doing a cruise that ends in London and wish to spend a few nights there and then on to Paris for a few nights.. I would usually fly as the rates between London and Paris is not that expensive.. I had heard that the train may be a better option as the train stations are closer to the center of the cities than the airports.. My concern is all of our luggage! I have watched the video's from the train site of the happy travelers taking their one carryon thru the turnstyles for the train but cannot picture me doing this with 4 large bags plus our carryon.. Any train travelers out there? Thanks We used the Eurostar last year to Paris (on our way to Barcelona by train)

Thanks Given you're on Crown Princess and that cruise ends in Southampton not London the best way of getting to Paris is to fly from SOU/Southampton to ORY/Paris Orly on DB/Brit Air (for Air France) or to CDG/Paris Charles De Gaule on BE/Fly BE

Re: Fly to Paris; day train to Venice

post21665288] You really seem to know your stuff so I have another question for you. There are two listed trains that leave Paris and end in Venice.. One as you already posted stops in Basel (cost $830CDN for two) the other Torino (cost $450CDN for two).. The price difference is quite large for the same class of seat and I was curious as to why.. Hi again you had asked why the price difference....hard to tell....but here's my opinions: *the Paris-Milan TGV runs on high speed / high cost trackage to Chambery at the foot hills then on 'regular' rails to Milan....Also a change of trains in Milan is never very high on the 'top 10 things to look forward to' list.. *The Paris-Basel TGV is on TGV trackage all the way ( except the last 12 miles into Basel); the connecting Cisalpino service to Venice is an extra fare train with higher speed than conventionnal; finally the scenery thru Switzerland is beyond comparisons; your whole itinerary is on 'extra fare ' consists

The second journey you refer to is actually the 1st choice I suggested: the Paris-Milan TGV goes thru Torino ( Turin ) on its way to Milano.. While not as scenic as the Paris-Basel-Venizia routing it is quite pleasant specially from about 10;00hr thru to the descent into Turin about 13;00 hrs

Re: private half day van thru Oceania

specific to that port...and what they contract for in the way of private vans if at all is dependent on what their local tour provider is able to arrange in that port.. I notice that your cruise is in NORTHERN Europe with ports completely distinct from the tours I have taken on Oceania.. Jul 18 Cruising the North Sea Jul 19 Antwerp 8:00 a.m.. Jul 20 Paris (Le Havre) 8:00 a.m.. One note: Paris is about a three hour drive from the port in Le Havre...Having been to paris a few times before we made the wiser choice when docked there to visit Rouen and Giverny instead...there are lots of other destinations close to Le Havre along the Normandy Coast

Re: The Krakow Event: Tour to Auschwitz/Birkenau

Dear friends By an amazing coincidence on Thursday I attended a lecture at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (where I live) that is very relevant in many ways to the discussion here.. As the speaker related some French Jews: 1) were grateful for any opportunity to reclaim their belongings/memories and gratefully went thru the process 2) some were extremely offended at the incredibly bureaucratic nature of the process (people had to prove recovered property was theirs for obvious reasons) but went thru with it 3) some refused to participate feeling that to do would legitimize..Paris saw the suitcase of his father Pierre that had been stolen from him at Auschwitz where he was murdered (the Auschwitz museum had lent the suitcase for the Paris exhibit-as those of you who have been to Auschwitz know there is little that can prepare.. But we have to keep trying to find the answers each in our own way. Today is the beginning of the Jewish new year

Re: people in military bases in France in the sixties

Frawley: Glad to help! My email is stg0936@gmail.com if you want to go that way. I insist it's ur call. Re: The Train.. Changed in Paris then went thru Orleans Le Mans (the same day of that terrible Mercedes crash) Poitiers Niort and into St.. I expected to return to Germany the same way. So leaving Fontenet by 3/4 ton army truck and riding to Bordeaux was a surprise but when we arrived at the train it was an even bigger surprise..Frenh as we went thru towns and cities
Re: people in military bases in France in the sixties

I've been in Bordeaux and in fact caught the US Army train there that took me to Bremerhaven where I boarded a troop transport for New York.. The train was empty in Bordeaux but as it traveled thru France it was full by the time it reached Bremerhaven .. When I arrived in Bremerhaven in Dec 1957 I took a train to Paris and then all the way to Angouleme for my assignment to Braconne

I do know without a doubt that my own success is a direct result of the incredible confidence-building effect of putting myself through school.. I see the same signs already in my kids...confidence appreciation for the value of work and money.. But she did more than OK by working her way thru school and like you shared in your own experience she has a confidence in her ability that would not likely be there if the financing was handed to her on a silver platter.. And if Paris Hilton's parents hadn't left her $20 million she wouldn't be nearly as wealthy now either

Re: Convince us to try a Disney Cruise ..

I'm disappointed that DCL opted for the round trip vs point to point.. I really think the best way to see AK is by land not by sea.. How did you catch the price drops? Here on the DIS or thru a TA or just dumb luck? We gave our re-booking to DU from the start so maybe they could watch for drops for me? LOL I was happy with the price we got but now I wonder if we could do better later.. Have 2 days for parks & 2 days for Paris. Go to Barcelona either Tues nite or Wed am (cruise leaves on Wed)

Merlin Submarines Myth and Reality

Spanish partners were building this prototype sub which was to be used by the Spanish/French Navies In the middle the Spanish partners severed their ties and went with third party and started to develop their own top the scorpean project thus became vacant so it was sold to indians it was offered to Pakistan Pakistan being the..Spy agencies - which goes to show you why some folks are trying hard fro this deal not to go thru Common sense is - if french have given us 200+ Mirage planes plus all the upgrades and fancy stuff why is it so bad and evil to take the top sub in their DCN company ? ? ? Its newer then the Scorpean class - and way more advance then Agosta even Also

Re: New FL area will be called Fantasy Forest

But my comment WAS SARCASTIC and meant to be taken that way. F-land is a lot more than meet and greets starting with the Mermaid clone to begin with.. The biggest thing to me is that Temporary Tent Land will die a long-coming death and that true theming will come to this land.. The shops in Paris are more immersive than MK's F-land rides.. They aren't the type of thing that you can get a real feel for thru the Internet (just another reason why technology has its bad sides).. Not thru photos or Youtube.. a good objective way of evaluating the park from someone who's been there without resorting to 'omg DCA is like six flags!1'
