wird kde problem (everythings massive)

i was using gnome (and have gone back now) and decided to install kde when i logged into kde for the first time it looked normal but when i tryed to open some of my normal gnome programs they opened but the text was massive so big it filled the screen

xrandr -output LVDS1 -mode 1280x800 -scale 2x2 This scales my screen size to 2400x1600 on my 1200x800 pixel laptop screen which is nice for some applications (eg gimp.) It works well in gnome but in kde the last time I tried it didn't work well

KDE 4 Drag and Drop File Open?

Just wondering if you could drag and drop a file to an Application in the panel to open the file similar to Gnome OS X (Drag and drop to Dock to open) and now even Windows 7 (drag and drop to taskbar while holding Shift)

Appologies if this has been asked before (only done a quick search before posting) but I'm recently started using KDE and was wondering if it possible to have a GNOME style menu (ie the Applications Places System) in the KDE instead of the Vista-ish one

This is not a question over which Desktop Environment people prefer but if someone is running Gnome should they avoid programs written for KDE? (or vice versa) Does that cause conflicts? I would assume that programs that have versions written for both
